Holistic, Multiple-Modality Protocols

Lasers are special because of their precision and accuracy. A laser emits one simple frequency of purified light that can “zero in” on a specific target, allowing the specialist to choose just the right tool for a specific purpose. The higher the “target specificity”, the lower the required energy, which means fewer side effects, less down-time holistic laser procedureand minimal risk. This presents a challenge to the medical aesthetic specialist inthat many expensive lasers must be purchased in order to offer a comprehensive variety of services… an enormous investment that AMA Corp continues to make. Consequently, our experience with so many different types of lasers has allowed us to develop unique protocols that integrate multiple modalities and that allow an extraordinary range of customized treatments for each individual patient.

Procedures done well are holistic in nature. By using our unique Multiple Modality Protocols, we have learned how to stimulate the body’s natural resources, physiologically transforming the skin to a much younger state, and enabling it to perform as it did when youthful, before aging and lifestyle stresses took their toll. Lasers and other hi-tech light-energy devices can also stimulate the immune system, detoxify the skin, remove old collagen and stimulate the production of new collagen. It is truly a partnership between our technology and protocols and the patients own physiology. The result is dramatically healthier, more radiant and youthful skin that appears completely natural and genuine… because it is exactly that.

OVERVIEW OF SKIN

Skin has two basic parts:
Epidermis - Outer most layer of skin - Very thin – Approximately 100 microns
Dermis - Bottom layer of skin - Much thicker – Approximately 1000 microns (10 x thicker than epidermis)

skin epidermis dermisEPIDERMIS

  1. Outer most protective “Shell”/”Armor”/”Crust”
  2. “ Basal” cells at bottom of layer produce new cells and push these new cells to the surface
    Kids - 5 day cell cycle / 20 year old – 30 days / 40 year old – 40 days… etc.
  3. As cells near the surface, they become “squamous” (flattened) and start producing high amounts of keratin - same hard substance as in our fingernails, important protection from abrasion.
  4. At the surface the cells die, and leave a thick layer of dead cells filled with keratin – like a “crust” - encasing our body. (Water proof barrier.)
  5. The slower the epidermal cell cycle, the thicker the crust will become. Thus kids have radiant skin, while adult skin dulls with age.
  6. Keratin layer is variable in thickness, color, texture.
  7. Causes unevenness in texture and color of skin.
  8. Causes “dullness”, roughness, fine lines and wrinkles.

The Epidermis also contains melanocytes
  1. Melanocytes produce melanin, the pigment in our skin which makes us albino, white, yellow, brown or black, depending on how much melanin is present.
  2. Melanocytes are stimulated by sun exposure to produce melanin, which gives us a temporary tan. This melanin absorbs sun light thus protecting deeper tissues.
  3. Due to a variety of factors, melanocytes can produce too much melanin:
  • Age - Age Spots/Liver Spots
  • Sun Damage - Sun Spots/Solar Lentigos
  • Hormone Fluctuations - Melasma
  • Trauma - Post Traumatic Hyper-Pigmentation
  • Genetics - Freckles
DERMIS
  1. Thick layer of structural tissue, primarily collagen (made by Fibroblast cells)
  2. Laid down in layer after layer, like a tight basket weave
  3. Gives skin Tone / Stretchiness / Resilience / Firmness / Smoothness
  4. Contains vasculature – blood supply (no vasculature in epidermis) and many other types of cells – see diagram
  5. With age, Fibroblasts tire out and produce less and less collagen
  6. Dermis becomes progressively thinner and thinner (even “paper” thin)
  7. Because old collagen is not being replaced with new collagen, the old collagen degrades, deteriorates, layers lose their tight basket weave, get tangled (“gnarled”), causing deep wrinkles
  8. Loses it’s Tone / Stretchiness / Resilience / Firmness / Smoothness / pores enlarge
  9. Excessive Laxity and Sagging / Wrinkles / Baggy / “Hangs on Bones” Look

Previously there has been no solution, only Surgical Face-Lifts which stretches the skin tightly around the bony structure of the face – often producing unnatural look – but does NOT change the physiological state of aging, damaged skin.

laser face lift procedure
LASER PROCEDURE # 1 – PIGMENTED DISCOLORATION

Melanin is the target that absorbs Laser Energy.

Color Blending – Evens out overall melanin in skin, producing an even and consistent skin tone.
Age/Sun Spot Removal – If spot is shallow and dark enough (high density of melanin), CLS will target the melanin and vaporize it and you might even hear a slight “snap/pop”. The melanin will actually lift to the surface like a “crust” and flake off in a few days – usually in the shower. If spot is deeper and lighter (low density of melanin), CLS will target melanin with just enough of the right kind of energy to change its molecular structure. Color may get a little darker or “ashen” at first. Consequently, the immune system will NOT recognize the substance and simply dissolve it. The spot will then fade away over the course of 2-4 weeks. Many spots will require additional treatments if more fading is desired.

LASER PROCEDURE # 2 – VASCULAR DISCOLORATION

Target is the aberrant vasculature in top layer of Dermis that may even cross over into the Epidermis. (Normally there is no vasculature in epidermis)
Laser energy is absorbed by blood in targeted veins. Blood vaporizes and collapses the vein.

laser face lift procedureDefined Vein – A distinct/defined vein that can be traced will be specifically targeted, and the vein will usually disappear instantaneously. If the vein is large, sometimes a shadow may be left by the cavity where the vein was located. The body will fill in and heal the cavity while dissolving any vein fragments that are left behind. This process may take from 2-12 weeks depending on the size and complexity of the veins and how fast the patient heals.

Broken Capillaries – Enough energy will be delivered to the area, absorbed by all the capillaries. The capillaries will fade away over the following 2-4 weeks.

Cherry Angioma – Red “dots” will be specifically targeted and many will instantly disappear or fade. They may turn brown at first then fade away over the course of 2-4 weeks. Larger lesions may require 2-3 touch up treatments.

Generalized Redness / Microvasculature– Enough energy will be delivered to the area, absorbed by the microvasculature. The redness will fade away over the following 2-4 weeks.

Rosacea – Combination of all the above – usually complex with multiple layers. Typically requires 3-5 treatments.

Broken Capillaries / Angiomas / Microvasculature and especially Rosacea are often present in multiple layers. Only one layer can be treated at a time. Depending on the severity, 2-3 treatments may be needed to achieve desired results. Rosacea is the toughest to resolve and may require further treatments.

LASER PROCEDURE # 3 – DEEP COLLAGEN REGENERATION & REMODELING

Targets old/deteriorating collagen à causing immune system to remove/dissolve it.
Targets Fibroblasts deep in Dermis and stimulates them to produce NEW collagen.

Amazingly with each passing week, the results keep getting better as progressively more collagen is produced.

With each subsequent treatment, fibroblasts will reach higher levels of stimulation, lasting for progressively longer periods of time.

Tightening & lifting excessive laxity:

For patients whose facial skin has excessive laxity (sagging), for instance drooping under the jaw line or “marionette lines” at the corners of the mouth, a more intense collagen stimulation and remodeling procedure can be administered that will tighten and lift the skin back into its natural more youthful profile. To enhance your comfort, stronger prescribed pain medication might be needed, and you must arrange for a driver to and from the clinic. The results of this procedure can be dramatic even after the first treatment, and successive treatments will typically result in tremendous improvement towards achieving the transformed youthful profile you are seeking. (Extra tightening sessions can be scheduled by booking 15-minute treatments every 2 weeks between CP5 sessions.)

LASER PROCEDURE # 4 – “PEEL / RESURFACING”- ACCELERATED EPIDERMAL REGENERATION

- Removes a precise layer (30%-50%) of top layer of dead keratinized epithelium (status cornium)
- Removes many surface imperfections, roughness, fine lines and discolorations
- Stimulates epidermal basal cells to enter a much faster “cell cycle”. The new epidermal cells are pushed to the surface in 3-5 days. (Usually requires at least an entire month)
- Arrival of new cells at surface causes light flaking (exfoliation) of old cells. “Peeling” will typically last 2 days, and may last up to 7 days. Can be easily managed with moisturizer and makeup.

led photo modulation procedureLASER PROCEDURE # 5 – AMBER LED PHOTO-MODULATION

LED Photo-Modulation represents the newest light-energy devices recently approved by the FDA for a variety of aesthetic skin treatments. The emitted energy, while low intensity, is engineered to interact with the mitochondria of dermal cells, dramatically stimulating the production of ATP, which is the essential fuel of the cell. The treated cells, bursting with ATP, can now function with an astounding vitality of youth. The results are very real and scientifically measurable, dramatically increasing collagen production diminishing wrinkles, shrinking pores and improving the tone and texture of the skin. Interestingly, the physiological changes induced by LED Photo-Modulation also reverse cell damage, including damage caused by excessive exposure to the sun. Spotty UV damaged skin, scientifically measured by AMA Corps Computerized Complexion Analysis Photography (CCAP) can be tracked as it is healed and spots simply disappear
