For pigmented lesions such as sun damage spots, red spots and age spots, results become apparent a few days after the first treatment. For darker and well-defined spots in which the melanin is close to the surface, 1-3 treatments are typically all that is needed. With treatment, these spots often turn slightly darker and “grayish”, after which they become “crusty” and simply flake off in 3-7 days leaving perfectly virgin skin underneath. For larger pigmented areas in which the melanin is deeper and irregular such as melasma or café-au-lait, progressive fading will accumulate over 3-6 successive treatments until you have achieved the improvement you desire.
